About "Uncork Barrington"

The Barrington Village Association ("BVA") is proud to present the Seventh Annual Uncork Barrington. This tremendously successful event has allowed the BVA to continue and expand its work. Through Uncork Barrington, the BVA has been able to create a thoroughly enjoyable evening while highlighting for visitors the heart of Barrington, and providing support for local charities and educational organizations. The BVA donated all the profits from Uncork Barrington 2010 to such organizations as the Barrington Area United Way, Barrington Career Center, Barrington Area Council on Aging, the District 220 Educational Foundation, Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble and many more.

We have striven to create a fun-filled and educational experience in an elegant venue. Housed in a series of white tents, Uncork Barrington takes place amidst beautiful plants and colorful decorations, with live jazz music playing and the sun setting in the background. At the gate, patrons may purchase tickets or claim tickets purchased in advance through this website. All guests will then be required to show proof that they are at least 21 years old, at which time they will receive a wristband to gain them admission to the Uncork venue. Guests may leave the venue to smoke and return by displaying this wristband.

Upon entry, guests will be provided with a souvenir glass to use during tasting and a "passport" to guide them through the tasting experience. Each guest will be afforded the opportunity to taste a total of 50 wines from nine regions and one miscellaneous category, with the help of trained amateur sommeliers. Guests will also receive tastings of flavorful foods served by local restaurants and caterers, designed to pair well with wines. The passport will help wine enthusiasts track the samples they've enjoyed, and to make notes about them. The passport will also reflect the foods tasted and highlight our event sponsors.

A select handful of wines featured at Uncork will be available for purchase the glass. Likewise, some foods offered by the food sponsors will be available for purchase. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available for purchase.

Ordering Wines and Special Event Prices

During and at the close of Uncork Barrington, Uncork guests may order bottles or cases of the featured wines at two designated locations in the venue, where wine experts will answer additional questions and coordinate orders. Guests ordering wines will be notified when their orders are ready to be picked up and paid for at Wine Discount Center, 311 E. Main Street, Barrington, Illinois.

Uncork Barrington is a successful experience thanks to the generosity, hard work and expertise of the professionals at Wine Discount Center. Wine Discount Center offers hundreds of fine wines at the most competitive prices in the area. The Uncork passport will include an order form, which will reflect comparable retail prices for each wine and the regular per-bottle and per-case price at Wine Discount Center. For this event only, Wine Discount Center will take an additional 5% off of its regular case price on orders of a case of the same wine.

About the Barrington Village Association

The Barrington Village Association ("BVA") has been brining neighbors together since 2000. Committed to Barrington's historic legacy, we support good causes in the Village such as the Memorial Park and the Hough Street School Scholarship Fund. The BVA's mission is to enrich life in Barrington's town center and, thus, also initiated and runs the Farmer's Market every Thursday afternoon from June through October. During the Holiday Season, we also bestow the "Brick of the Year" award on a person from Barrington who has, through individual effort, made a unique contribution to our Village. In the past two seasons alone, we have been happy to provide in excess of $20,000 in charitable donations.
